Must See Gay Cinema Releases from 2013!

Post  Siyapath on 8th January 2014, 08:11

Based on actual events, the film revolves around Ron Woodroof, played beautifully by Mathew McConaughey, who after being diagnosed with AIDS began smuggling unapproved drugs into Texas for him and other patients who so desperately needed it. With a gay Mathew McConaughey and Jared Leto as a transgender woman, this movie was sure to be on top of the list.  The performances alone have begun to make this movie an instant classic.

Set in the mid 1940s, Kill Your Darlings focuses on the famed poets who made up the “Beat Generation,” including Jack Kerouac, William Burroughs, and Allen Ginsberg (played by Daniel Radcliffe). After a murder takes place, these innovative poets are drawn together to create a historical change in literature. John Krokidas’ direction is garnering tremendous buzz, especially for Radcliffe doing drugs, masturbating, and having sex with an older man. Perhaps he may be holding a golden statue soon.

James Franco and Travis Mathews set out to recapture the “lost footage” from the classic cult film “Cruising,” starring Al Pacino. The search ends up becoming a springboard towards gay sex in movies and how we view it as a culture. Described as completely original and avant garde, the film has garnered incredible reviews for its uncomfortable way of portraying the central theme. Regardless, it’s a film every movie buff must see.

In an honest tale of what it means to be torn between two worlds, this German film (truly called “Freier Fall”) centers around the life of Marc, a policeman with a pregnant wife who begins to fall in love with his colleague, a man. Torn between his feelings, Marc begins to see his world spinning out of control. Though he tries to make everyone happy, the one person he’s seemingly forgetting is himself. A telling, truthful, and insightful piece of film you must see!

This is a film that captures the essence of young gay love at its core. The main character Mike is an introvert who prefers to alienate himself from the world, until he meets a new boy at school who reveals what life can be. Through the help of his young lover, the two teach each other things about the world and all its possibilities: adventure, passion, and love.

Floating Skyscrapers

In an intense love triangle tale, this Polish film highlights the battle of a young man who discovers that he’s gay, much to the surprise of his girlfriend who tries everything in her power to cling onto him. The movie gives an accurate depiction of what it’s like to embrace love, while also letting it go. Its colliding themes make this movie an excellent time.

In probably one of the most entertaining gay films of the year, Hot Guys With Guns is pretty much exactly as it sounds. Described as a “gay” Lethal Weapon, this movie is an interesting twist on the old-fashioned detective story, only the two crime solvers are ex-boyfriends. With a story full of twists and turns, this movie will make you wonder why gay cop movies aren’t raking in the big bucks. Grab the popcorn!

In an accurate reflection of where the younger generation is at today in terms of their openness towards the same sex, two young friends (boy and girl) are each seduced by the same man. As the love triangle continues to grow, their friendship gets put to the test. Can a guy truly step in between them?

Needless to say, the discussion and experiment crosses all boarders of philosophical discussion.
